क्लेश कर्म विपाकाशयैःपरामृष्टः पुरुषविशेष ईश्वरः ॥२४॥
kleśa karma vipāka-āśayaiḥ-aparāmṛṣṭaḥ puruṣa-viśeṣa īśvaraḥ ||24||
[SS] 1.24 Isvara is the supreme Purusha, unaffected by any afflictions, actions, fruits of actions or by any inner impressions of desires. [p39]
[TD] 1.24 God is the Supreme Being whose actions are never based on misapprehension. [p156]
[EB] 1.24 The Lord is a special soul. He is untouched by the obstacles [to the practice of yoga], karma, the fructification [of karma], and subconscious predispositions. [p79]
(क्लेश, kleśa) = the spiritual aspirant’s obstacles; suffering; cause of suffering
(कर्म, karma) = actions and effects
(विपाक, vipāka) = impact of actions; consequences of actions
(आशयैः, āśayaiḥ) = the residual elements of an action, i.e. recollections, as well as the mainsprings of new desires.
(अपरामृष्टः, aparāmṛṣṭaḥ) = unaffected
(पुरुष, puruṣa) = the immutable self; drashtu; here: the individual
(विशेष, viśeṣa) = special; unusual
(ईश्वरः, īśvaraḥ) = personal God; concept of an ideal being
