वितर्कबाधने प्रतिप्रक्षभावनम् ॥३३॥
vitarka-bādhane pratiprakṣa-bhāvanam ||33||
[RS] 2.33 Uncertainty concerning implementation can be overcome via orientation with the reverse.
[SS] 2.33 When disturbed by negative thoughts, opposite [positive] ones should be thought of. This is pratipaksha bhavana. [p127]
[EB] 2.33 Upon being harassed by negative thoughts, one should cultivate counteracting thoughts. [p255]
(वितर्क, vitarka) = doubt; uncertainty; question
(बाधने, bādhane) = implementation; putting into practice
(प्रति, prati) = other; different
(पक्ष, pakṣa) = wing
(प्रतिपक्ष, pratipakṣa) = opposite; reverse; the other side of the coin; the opposite position; literally: the other wing
(भावनम्, bhāvanam) = perseverance; to focus on a goal
