स्वाध्यायादिष्टदेवता संप्रयोगः ॥४४॥
svādhyāyād-iṣṭa-devatā saṁprayogaḥ ||44||

(स्वाध्यायत्, svādhyāyat) = self-study; learning from one self

[RS] 2.44 Self-study and reflection on yourself (svadhyaya) brings you into contact with the desired ideal.

[JW] 2.44 As a result of study there is communion with the chosen deity.

[SS] 2.44 By study of spiritual books comes communion with one’s chosen deity. [p149]

[EB] 2.44 From study [of scripture], a connection with one’s deity of choice is established. [p273]
