स्थूलस्वरूपसूक्ष्मान्वयार्थवत्त्वसंयमात् भूतजयः ॥४४॥
sthula svarupa sukshma anvaya arthavattva sanyamat bhutajayah ||44||
[SS] 3.45 By samyama on the gross and subtle elements and on their essential nature, correlations and purpose, mastery over them is gained. [p196]

sthūla = the external aspects of something
svarūpa = own form; true nature; true form
sūkṣma = subtle; the subtle underlying principle
anvaya = sequence; all-pervasive
artha-vattva = purposefulness; function
saṁyama = deep contemplation; meditation
bhūta = the five elements; matter
jayaḥ = (nom.) victory, mastery; control
